Hot on the heals on of the Swiss ban on minarets comes France with its annual Miss France beauty pageant. This year bikini-wearing Juliette Boubaaya (an Algerian by descent) has caused ripples amongst the French right.

Boubaaya says she’s  proud of her religion, prays five times a day and is planning on joining the French police. She even consulted an Imam, who gave his blessing,  before partaking in a bikini shoot for Miss Picardie.

So how does the French right welcome the prospect of such a women becoming Miss France ? Well with total rejection. For them even the sight of a bikini-clad Muslim female is not enough to break their hatred of Islam and Muslims:

“The Far right, meanwhile, simply don’t want a Muslim woman as Miss France. “In Islam alcohol and pork are forbidden,” wrote one blogger recently, “therefore it will be impossible for a Miss Muslim to promote the champagne, wine and sausage. Sorry, but France without those things is not France.” {Source: The First Post}

If they can reject such a person as Juliette Boubaaya, who is willing to get her clothes off for the sake of a beauty pageant,  a definite Muslim cultural no no,  what hope is there for the likes of us mere mortals?
