Al-Quds Al-Arabi: Netanyahu Blames Palestinians For Conflict

Netanyahu, Albright And Arafat In 1998
Today starts a new feature here at Islam and the West. I am looking to provide readers of this blog with different perspectives from around the Muslim world.
As such and with time constraints in mind I shall try to post translations of news stories taken from the Arab press. This may be rather haphazard to begin with as time is really not on my side. Having side that if you as a reader value these posts then please let me know so I can devote more time to such posts.
So lets start !
In this post we begin with the lead story Al-Quds Al-Arabi, a pan-Arab news daily published from London. Where we find Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu firmly blaming the Palestinians for the Arab-Israeli conflict. His comments were made during a ceremony held in Jerusalem recently to commemorate the 105th death anniversary of Theodore Herzl:

Translation:
On Sunday during a formal ceremony to commemorate the founding ideologue of the ‘Jewish State’ Binyamin Ze’ev Herzl in Jerusalem Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Palestinians recognition of a Jewish Israel and the removal of a Palestinian right to return are the keys to peace.
Netanyahu said that “the key to peace is the explicit recognition by the Palestinians of Israel as a Jewish state…”
… “I wish the day will come when moderate Palestinian leaders will say clearly to their people: Enough of this conflict, we recognise the right of the Jewish people to its own state in this land….”
According to Mr. Netanyahu I’ve been getting it all wrong. I thought land in exchange for security was the key to peace. Was that not the formula baked up by the international community to resolve the Israel-Palestine dispute ?
