Islamophobia And Anti-Semitism: Two Sides Of The Same Coin ?
The Center for Research on anti-semitism at the Technical University of Berlin has started a bit of a debate around the issue of Islamophobia.
The centre recently held a conference in Germany entitled “Perceived Enemy Muslim – Perceived Enemy Jew.” In which they tried to draw similarities between hatred of Jews and hatred of Muslims.
Below is a rebuttal by Klaus Faber, a member of the Coordinating Council of German NGOs against Anti-Semitism, to the notion that Islamophobia and anti-semitism are any way alike :
“…This attempted comparison has met with rejection, since the term “Islamophobia” is primarily used during anti-Western and anti-Israeli agitation in Islamic countries.
“Islamophobia” does not refer to actual discrimination against Muslims, but to allegedly inappropriate criticism of Shari’a law and Islam in general…..
…Anti-Semitism and “Islamophobia” cannot be equated. Nobody wants to exterminate all Muslims or wipe out an Islamic country. Nobody blames all Muslims for every evil in the world. Just looking at what is written and published about Israel and Jews by Muslim institutions and in many Islamic countries highlights this fundamental difference. In Germany, this means police have to protect Jewish kindergardens, schools, institutions and synagogues around the clock. In contrast, anti-Islamic terrorism is virtually non-existent in Europe.
Instead, one finds a close cooperation between aggressive anti-Semitic Islamists and equally anti-Semitic neo-Nazis…..
…Equating “Islamophobia” and anti-Semitism relativizes not only the Holocaust, but also current anti-Semitic dangers. This is true especially for the genocidal anti-Semitic propaganda of Iran, but also in the terror threats coming from anti-Semitic organizations like Hamas or Hizbullah – with the latter still not banned in Germany. Thus, equating “Islamophobia” and anti-Semitism obstructs the struggle against anti-Semitism and, consequently, the politics of integration in Germany that attempt to overcome Islamic anti-Semitism. Finally, this false comparison also hobbles the boycott policies against Iran and its genocidal plans.”(Source: Jerusalem Post)

“Islam haters” is too broad a brush. People who oppose the, we are told, 10% of ‘jihad/shaaria’ brand of Islam that promotes suicide bombing, honor killings, fatwas, and accuses almost any and everyone of “blasphemy against the faith” is hardly an “Islam hater” if the other 90% of Moslems don’t practice all or any of the above but claim Islam but not the terrorist brand. He just opposes those who claim to be the true believers (and bully those who don’t pray 5 times a day or even own a pray mat but aren’t Christian or Jews so by way of elimination, if nothing else, self identify therefore as Islam).
But if these 90% refuse to differenciate themselves (and unfortunately, their silence is deafening) from those who are supposedly hijacking their form of Islam, then what is a poor infidel suppose to do? 10% are obviously quite reprehensibly bad, but to expose the obvious (let us say in Danish cartoons) only gets the 90% who say they aren’t of the same cloth as the 10%, mad, defensive, and only in professed innocence any different from the monsters. In every other way (just bring up “Israel” and there is zero difference philosophically between the Hamas and the Fatah “moderate”. One wants to kill Jews violently the other “moderately”.) I haven’t met a Moslem yet who doesn’t claim that the world’s problems aren’t somehow inextricably tied to Palestinian statehood. As if that being solved will keep Moslems from killing each other, much less Christians in Nigeria, Sudan, Indonesia, etc..
Islam desperately needs a reformation like that inaugurated by Luther inside Christianity. Shiite and Sunni are both in need of joining the human race.
Time for the easily offended among you to knock the chip off your shoulders and roll up your sleaves and join well meaning Westerners and get rid of this “abberation”, if indeed you’re really different in more than just somehow being “moderately” Islamic.

Let me just say, by way of exception, and there are a few, such as Walid Shoebat, Donie Darwish (I’m going by my memory here of this fine woman’s name so it may be off),
AND I MIGHT ADD FOR EMPHASIS, IN CASE “YOU” (WHOEVER YOU MAY BE OUT THERE) WOULD SOMEHOW HAVE ANY QUESTIONS WHERE I PUT THIS FINE FELLOW—
(A little traveling music is in order here; think of the opening {“and may I introduce for you, the one and only Billy Shields—Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Club band…”}
“…Bil-ley Shields!!!”
AKA, (in my humble opinion) OR we know him as, that wonderful refugee from Kashmir.
What I am trying to say is that he (remember, IMHO) represents you 90%’ers pretty well.
Can I hear an AMEN! out there in the peanut gallery?!
May you be blessed!
Anyway, that is my “food for thought”
Or you might say, that is
MY SALAMI!~))

Please excuse me, it’s “Billy Shears” not Billy Shields. From the Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends”.
The point? This nomad from Kashmir is doing an admirable work and just needs a little help from his friends. Even if you might disagree with some of his views, those that represent the philosophy of basically 90% of all Moslems who are essentially peace-loving and non-violent, friendly and warm and hospitable by nature (I have found from living in Middle East a couple of times for over 3 years)—to NOT promote such qualities is insane. What, you want obl to continue to be exhaulted and jihad practiced when everyone else just wants to live together in as non-confrontaional a way as possible —just like you and me?

Almost every major Muslim figure in Sunni Islam has spoke against terrorism and issued fatwas and runs lectures against it. From Saudi Arabia to north America. Even fundamentalists will whole heatedly and honestly condemn terrorism despite disagreeing with many western values.
This is just one page of MANY that has fatwas and articles:
