Joseph Kony Murderous And Perverted Christian Terrorists Try To Evade JusticePractically every day if not every hour western news coverage is saturated with the topic of terrorism. In an obvious attempt to garner public support for ever increasing draconian measures against civil liberties the “heat” on terrorism is being continually ratcheted up by political establishments throughout the western world.

In this post we shall be looking at a news story related to religiously inspired terrorism that has brought suffering to millions of people but which in all probability you will not see on the Fox News Channel nor read about in the Murdoch controlled tabloid print media.

The Lords Resistance Army is a Christian terrorist organisation that wished to bring about Biblical rule in northern Uganda :

“The L.R.A is an Ugandan rebel paramilitary force that was formed in 1987 and is lead by Joseph Kony. L.R.A attacks have been against the Ugandan military but the L.R.A does not limit itself to killing government soldiers it also targets villages and civilians. Around 12,000 people have been killed. 2 million civilians have fled the fighting. 20,000 children have been kidnapped by the group to be used at child soldiers and as sex slaves.

During 2005 members of the L.R.A were indictment by the International Criminal Court. Joseph Kony (who has 27 wives and 47 children as reported by the Mail & Gaurdian of South Africa) faces charges of crimes against humanity including murder, enslavement, sexual enslavement and rape.” (Source: Islam And The West)

In the latest development members of the Lords Resistance Army in negotiations with the Ugandan authorities are asking that they not be sent to the International Criminal Court in the Hague but rather be tried by their own tribal customs:

“Former members of Uganda’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) say they want forgiveness from the people they terrorised.

Rather than face international criminal courts, they are asking to be tried by their own tribal customs.

At the height of the conflict, almost two million people sought the comparative safety of squalid government camps set up to protect them from the LRA’s attacks.

Peace talks between the rebels and the Ugandan government have been going on since July last year, but the negotiations have been puncuated by temporary walkouts and tension.

A key sticking point is the issue of justice for the LRA’s top commanders, who have been indicted for atrocities by the International Criminal Court (ICC), based in Holland…..

…LRA members are keen to face traditional Ugandan justice which involves rituals and ceremonies, rather than face the country’s laws and courts.

They are equally dismissive of the ICC which has indicted many LRA members. They dismiss it as belonging to the white man…..

…Jennifer Akan told Al Jazeera’s Yvonne Ndege that the courts, not traditional customs, should handle their punishment.

She says she was made a sex slave to an LRA commander and bore two children – the first at age 14.

She said: “They gave me a man. I was not yet old enough to have a man. That is thy thing that really hurt me most. I want them to be sent to court. According to me, I am also one of the victims.”

Traditional forms of justice, called Mataput, are on the table.

Mataput is a ritual where one seeking forgiveness steps on an egg and over a wooden stick – a sign of justice and forgiveness for some of the tribes in northern Uganda.

Martin Ojul, the LRA’s chief negotiator, argues that the majority of victims in the north want the ICC indictments scrapped, and for LRA leaders to face traditional justice

He said: “We Ugandans we are saying we want to get together in order [to] substitute the ICC so that we handle our issue by ourselves.

“Even the victims are saying they do not want the ICC, [Joseph] Kony [former head of the LRA], has been forgiven and let us use a traditional system of solving our own problems. Before the whites came into Africa, there was already solutions on how to solve our problems.” (Source: Al-Jazeera)

I know if I was a murderous and perverted Christian terrorist which system of punishment I would choose between the International Criminal Court and “Mataput”.

Maybe this is the same reason why the United States has not signed up to the International Criminal Court as it does not want independent judicial oversight. I am sure it has nothing to do with the saying that “one has nothing to fear if one has done nothing wrong….”
