Islam, Women, Beaches And Italy
Authorities in the Italian town of Riccione are planning to allow women only areas on local beaches. The development is aimed at attracting more Muslim women to the resort town. The Washington Post reports that the plans will begin with segregating and partioning an area of about 1000 metres to allow a womans only area:
I do not think “developments” like this are a welcome addition to the current handbook of western political correctness. If you read the whole article the reasoning behind this move is not a sudden love of Muslim women or their veils. It is rather a love for the increasing hard currency that Muslim tourists bring. As such I hope people see it for the ploy that it is.

You are hard to please, Kashmiri. Sadly, everything in this world is about power and money. But I thought you’d like this initiative. As for me, I think public spaces should never be segregated.

I don’t understand your opposition to this, Nomad. Is there any prohibition to such enjoyment in privacy in Islam? Do Muslim women want to enjoy the sun, the surf, and the sand without having to wear the garments they are required to wear when in the presence of men? If so, why shouldn’t someone provide them that opportunity?
Will providing them that opportunity be a good business decision? If there are enough Muslim women who want that opportunity, it certainly will have been. Why do you view providing people what they want, so long as it does not violate any religious or cultural prohibitions, as so negative a thing?
People make money selling food, cars, clothing, books, music, etc. Why should they not also make money selling Muslim women the opportunity to enjoy the beach as other women do?

Mr.Shott my problem is that this hypocritical. For socities that hate so much the “evil” of Islamic culture to then try and make a “quick buck” does not reflect anything but greed and hypocrisy.

You have taken a belief held by a fraction of members of Western societies and applied it to the whole of Western society: “societies that hate so much the “evil” of Islamic culture.” You then accuse all of Western society of hypocrisy because some of the people believe Islam is evil, and others have businesses that cater to Muslims.
You decry that Muslims as a group are vilified when only some of them are violent terrorists, and them do the same thing with regard to Western societies.
Is this a failure of reason or a deliberate attempt to bait us?
