The Bible: Genesis Chapter 1 Verse 1

Allah Islam Bible ChristianityThe Qur’an: Chapter 2 Verse 255

I want to in this post deal with a topic that I have touched on before in this weblog under the title of “what does Allah mean to you?”

As I have mentioned in the post “what does Allah mean to you” that the Arabic version of the Bible is full of verses where the name of God is mentioned by the term Allah. To illustrate this I have taken a copy of the Arabic Bible found on the website of the International Bible society (http://www.ibs.org). For those that are not familiar with Arabic let me inform you that the above image is the first few words of Genesis verse 1. It reads in English as such:

“In the beginning God created the heavens…..”

The most important part of the verse for our purpose has been underlined in red. The word used for God here is the Arabic term Allah. Now if you look down at the second image which is taken from the Qur’an chapter 2 verse 255 the term used for God in this verse is Allah. You can see that both verses from the Qur’an and the Bible contain the same identical name for God.

This now brings me onto the claims of those who say that Allah is a moon goddess (Robert Morey) or Allah is Satan or Allah is a false god. If these claims are true then millions of Arab Christians who have been worshipping long before Christianity came to the west are also worshipping a moon goddess or Satan or a false god just like us Muslims!

I personally do not find this problematic, however I am amazed at those who claim to preach and spread love throughout the earth would want to label their co-religionists as devil worshippers.
